All About Springtown, TX
A town that spans both Parker County and Wise County in Texas, Springtown is one of the rural jewels of northeastern Texas. The area is known for its hot, humid summers and mild to cool winters, technically having a humid subtropical climate.
It was originally named Littleton’s Springs by Joseph Ward, one of the early settlers of the area. It was renamed Springtown in the mid-1870s, with a post office opening in 1875 and its incorporation in 1884. Originally, it was the site of the College Hill Institute, chartered by the State of Texas in 1884. It operated for about ten years before being closed.
