All About Historic McKinney TX
As the county seat of Collin County TX, McKinney is the third largest city in the county with a 2020 population of 195,308. It’s been a very fast growing community in the twenty-first century, with only 53,369 people in 2000. The town is only 30 miles north of Dallas, so many of the residents work in that city, while many work in the businesses in town. The largest employer in town is Raytheon Space & Airborne Systems, which develops and manufactures aircraft engines as well as defense technologies.
McKinney Texas was first formed in 1859, and it was the commercial hub of the county for the first 125 years of his life, providing goods and services for nearby farmers. Today, Historic Downtown McKinney is a fun place to visit where you can see some of the old buildings from this time, including the Old Collin County Courthouse. There are also some fun parks to spend time in such as Towne Lake Recreation Area and Erwin Park, taking in some sun or having a picnic on your vacation. In addition to the experience of historic Texas, there’s also modern dining and shopping options like Allen Premium Outlets just south of town. Whatever you want on a Texas vacation, fast-growing McKinney has it!
