A city situated on the corners of Hood, Johnson, and Parker counties in the great state of Texas, Cresson is also at the intersection of U.S. Highway 377 and State Highway 171. It is about 25 miles southwest of Fort Worth and was incorporated in 2001.
Most confirm that the origin of the name of the city has been lost to history. One published book theorizes the city may have received its name due to John Cresson, the captain of a wagon train that camped locally before the Civil War. Another story that has similar weight is told that Cresson was named for an official that worked with the Fort Worth and Rio Grande Railroad.
The area around Cresson is great for food. BBQ on the Brazos and Max’s Kitchen are two of these places, providing local flavor, top quality barbecue, and the sort of rural Texas delights that the area is known for. Motorsport Ranch is one of the few car racing tracks in the state, a great place to visit for the day to see all the vintage and antique vehicles that are used, including replicas of vehicles from the movies.
