An incorporated town in Parker County, TX, Brock is known for being incorporated in 2016, around the same time the nearby city of Weatherford was investigating involuntarily annexing land in or near the area around Brock.
The area was originally known as Olive Branch. James Monroe Maddux had 12 children, moved to Arkansas, then moved in 1876 to the area that would one day become Brock. They saw the need for a church, a school, and more. John Henry Brock, another early settler, had bought land in the same year. Mail was brought to his wife to determine where to deliver the mail. Thus, mail was coming to “Brock” for short, which resulted in the area’s name being changed to Brock in her honor as the postmistress.
The Brock area is well-known for having a lot of lovely pieces of Texas open to the public.
