All About Stockton Bend, AKA Brazos Bend, Texas
Stockton Bend, formerly known as Brazos Bend, is one of the cities in Hood County, TX. It was originally incorporated in May 2004 with its former name due to its location along the main stem of the Brazos River. It is part of the Granbury, TX Micropolitan Statistical Area.
The town of Brazos Bend or Stockton Bend didn’t come fully into existence until people came to what was originally Johnson County in 1854. The area offered protection from attacks, with travelers frequently crossing the Brazos River at Landers Ferry or Abe’s Crossing. The settlement grew because of this, playing a role in developing the new county of Hood County in 1866.
Some of the greatest things in the area have to do with nature. Brazos Bend State Park is a great place to bring your walking shoes, binoculars, and camera, as some of the nicest bits of foliage and animal life is located here.
